We offer classes on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of each month. YOU ARE REQUIRED to complete a classroom training course and firing range training before making application for a Tennessee Handgun Carry Permit Upon satisfactory completion of the course, you will receive a Certificate of Completion which you will supply to the TN Department of Safety when you apply for a Handgun Carry Permit. The certificate is good for 6 months after date issued. If you do not apply for a permit within 6 months, you will be required to take the course again to obtain another certificate. |

CLASSROOM PROCEDURES TN Handgun Carry Permit Courses consist of classroom training, a written test, and live firing range training and testing. Fee is $60.00 per person for all training. Persons with a reading disability may have the test read to them. The classroom and the firing range are handicap accessible. All weapons are to remain unloaded and locked in your vehicle during class. Paper and pens are provided for taking notes. Notes may be used for reference during the written test. The entire course (class and firing range) lasts approximately 8 hours total with a 1-hour lunch break. Students are responsible for their own lunch. Back to Top |
FIRING RANGE PROCEDURES All calibers of handgun are acceptable. You will need 48 rounds of factory loaded ammunition for your gun. If using an semi-automatic pistol you need only one empty magazine. If you do not own a gun, you may borrow one from the instructor at no charge. You will be responsible for paying for the ammunition. Eye and ear protection are required at the firing range. These will be furnished to you, or you may bring your own. When you arrive at the firing range, all weapons, ammunition, and magazines are to remain locked in your vehicle until requested to get them by the instructor. Weapons and magazines are to be empty and unloaded. No holsters or pouches are allowed. Back to Top |
